I recently met with Chasom Electronics’ founding director Anil Kumar. Chasom offers a unique menu of services for companies looking to extend their technology capabilities on a short- or long-term basis. Read on to learn about this very unique service company.
Dan Beaulieu: Anil, thanks for meeting with me. Tell me about your background and what you do at Chasom.
Anil Kumar: I have a deep-rooted passion for printed circuit boards. My vision was to create a company that would exceed the needs of the market. Chasom Electronics was founded in 2022 as a realization of that vision.
My role in the company has been multifaceted. I've overseen the establishment and growth of the company from the ground up. This includes everything from setting our strategic direction to assembling a talented team, creating robust manufacturing processes, and forging lasting relationships with clients.
My background in PCB technology has been instrumental in ensuring that our services are of the highest quality, meeting the most stringent industry standards. I've always been an advocate for innovation and strive to stay at the forefront of technological advancements in the industry.
Chasom Electronics is a testament to my commitment to the PCB industry. As we move forward, my vision is to continue to drive our company toward new horizons, ensuring that we remain a pioneering force in the PCB market and a trusted partner to our valued clients.
Beaulieu: Anil, where are you located?
Kumar: We are located at Bangalore, which is the capital city of Karnataka, a state in India.
Beaulieu: Please tell me about your services.
Kumar: We offer a comprehensive range of solutions to meet the diverse needs of our clients in the PCB/PCBA industry. We understand that the electronics industry demands precision, quality, and efficiency. Whether you're looking for assistance with PCB design, engineering, sales support, or procurement, our company is committed to providing tailored solutions that meet your unique requirements.
Beaulieu: How many engineers do you have on staff?
Kumar: We have a highly skilled and dedicated team of engineers. Our engineering department consists of 14 experienced professionals who bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our projects. These engineers specialize in various areas of PCB design, PCB/PCBA engineering, sales, procurement activities, and PCB/PCBA quoting to ensure that we can meet our clients' diverse needs effectively.
Beaulieu: Give me the breakdown of how you work.
Kumar: Our approach is client-centric, with a focus on collaboration, transparency, and delivering high-quality PCB solutions. We are committed to working closely with our clients to ensure successful outcomes and satisfaction at every stage of the process.
Beaulieu: So, companies in North America can hire your teams to help with projects?
Kumar: Yes, companies in North America and beyond can hire our team for a wide range of services in the PCB/PCBA domain. Whether you're looking for customized PCB solutions, assistance with design and development, transparent quoting, expert sales support, or efficient procurement services, our dedicated team is ready to collaborate with you.
Beaulieu: Are there minimum engagements?
Kumar: We understand that each project is unique, and our goal is to provide flexible and tailored solutions to meet your business needs. We do not have strict minimum engagement requirements right now. Whether you need a short- or a larger, long-term need, we are committed to working with you to deliver the support and services you require.
Beaulieu: Are there limits to how long you can support a company?
Kumar: No, we do not set strict limits. We are dedicated to establishing long-term partnerships and providing ongoing assistance to meet your evolving needs. Whether you require short-term assistance for a specific project or are looking for continuous, long-term support, our commitment remains the same: to offer high-quality services and expertise to help your company succeed.
Beaulieu: What if it doesn’t work out with one person? Can you provide a substitute?
Kumar: Absolutely, we understand that the dynamics of a project or engagement can change, and it's important to ensure that clients receive the best support possible. If, for any reason, clients find that a specific team member or point of contact isn't the right fit, or if circumstances require a change, we are more than willing to provide a suitable substitute.
Client satisfaction is paramount to us, and we are committed to delivering the best possible support and expertise to achieve their goals.
Beaulieu: Are there other companies like yours?
Kumar: Yes, of course, there are several other companies in the PCB/PCBA engineering, design, sales support, and procurement service industry. While our company offers unique strengths and capabilities, the market does have a variety of players with similar services. These companies may differ in terms of their expertise, scale, specialization, and customer focus.
All companies bring their own set of strengths and may cater to specific niches or industries, but what sets us apart is our commitment to provide a one-touch solution with multiskilled engineers, and that distinguishes us from our competitors. We believe that our engineers’ capabilities set us apart.
Beaulieu: What are your future plans? Where do you want to be in five years?
Kumar: In five years, we aspire to see Chasom as a trusted industry leader known for end-to-end engineering house, cutting-edge designs, exceptional sales support, streamlined procurement processes, and unwavering commitment to quality. Our goal is to expand our market presence in the U.S. and the UK, especially to foster innovation and ensure customer satisfaction.
Beaulieu: How do you see your market today?
Kumar: The market today is highly dynamic and competitive. We face constant technological advancements, evolving customer demands, and global supply chain challenges. However, these challenges also present opportunities for growth and innovation. By staying attuned to market trends, embracing new technologies, and focusing on customer needs, we can position ourselves for success in this ever-changing landscape.
Competing in the PCB/PCBA market involves addressing challenges such as intense global competition, supply chain disruptions, rapidly evolving technology, and meeting stringent quality standards while continually innovating to meet customer expectations.
I see PCB technology moving toward greater miniaturization, increased use of flexible and rigid-flex boards, improved materials for higher performance, and a continued focus on sustainability and environmental responsibility.
I anticipate a world marked by continued technological advancements, a strong focus on sustainability, and evolving consumer preferences. Adapting to change and embracing innovation will be essential.
Beaulieu: Any last comments?
Kumar: I'd like to express my gratitude for your thoughtful questions and the opportunity to discuss our industry's challenges and future. It's been a productive conversation, and I appreciate your interest.

EIPC Issues Letter of Urgency
04/29/2024 | Alun Morgan, EIPCAlun Morgan, president of EIPC, issued a letter last week in an effort to raise awareness of the state of PCB manufacturing in Europe. He writes, "The European PCB manufacturing industry and its supply base has been steadily shrinking since the dot com crash at the start of the millennium. European demand for PCBs and assemblies has, however, continued to grow, thus creating an ever-widening gap between European domestic capacity and consumption. The risks posed by this imbalanced supply and demand pattern came into sharp focus during the Covid-19 pandemic which caused chaos in extended supply chains across the world and resulted in widespread shortages."
